Budo

I’ve been studying Iaido with the New York Budo Association since 2005 (20 years now). In 2017. I helped turn the school from a volunteer organization into a not-for profit organization 501-c(3). I am currently the acting President and one of the Senior Instructors and help manage the school. I hold the rank of Godan (5th Dan) and teaching license – Shidōin (指導員) in Ryushin Shouchi Ryu (柳心照智流), Shodan (1st Dan) in Asayama Ichiden Ryu (浅山一伝流), Shodan (1st Dan) in Muso Shinden-Ryu (夢想神伝流). In 2022 I started the Pratt Budo Club at Pratt Institute his alma-mater, the first college iaido/kenjutsu program in the USA. In 2022 I began learning Kyudo (Japanese Archery) with Phil Ortiz Sensei as well as Shibata XXI Sensei and hopes to expand my understanding of Budo by training in different Kyoryu (styles). In 2024 I also started training in Naginata and now hold the rank of Yonkyu.
